Miss Anya Snow

The challenge is to create a card or project based on the inspirational by a book. I have so many favorites on my bookshelf that I looked towards my stamp collection to find a match. Miss Anya Snow, featured as "Rose", jump started my inspiration and narrowed down my selection to East by Edith Pattou. This is a book I'll never forget... again. You see, I had forgotten all about reading it until half way through reading it the second time! It was still an enjoyable read.

"Rose" wouldn't be complete with the white bear and so I drew up this polar bear to walk along her during their adventures. Since so much is covered up, I took this picutre below to showcase the entire bear. Surprisingly it works well on it's own but it wouldn't be "East" without the two together. This card also satisfies a color combination challenge using blue, cream and any additional color, gold.

Main Stamp: Oliver & Amelia Buddies (TGF)
Patterned Paper: Sweet (DCWV)
Dry Embossing:
Papertrey Ink Impression Plate In Bloom
Spellbinders: Nestabilities Labels Two
Copic Colors: (none - colored pencils)

Tips, Tricks & Techniques 0x017

When embossing with the Spellbinders' Nestabilities die templates it is not necessary to reposition the paper on the flip side of the die. In addition, embossing can also be done with a stylus in lieu of running it through the press machine. Either technique will achieve an even embossing border without a fuss. Personally, I like to use an embossing stylus which gives me a good depth of embossed detail.

My Guy Ian

I worked in several challenges on this card with the first to create a card or project based on the sketch provided. The colors were derived from 'Christmas in July' themed challenges and the image was selected to create a bah-humbug card for "the man" of the house. (It's all for show though, hence the bag full of goodies.) Finally, twine was added for the last challenge and a boy stamp for the "something boy" challenge.
