Did you know? The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is an ape-like cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet.Stories of the Yeti first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century. The scientific community generally regards the Yeti as a legend, given the lack of conclusive evidence, yet it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology.

On the 1st Day of Christmas my Ghoul Love gave to me.... a Yeti from Simply Betty!

Did you know? A concertina is a free-reed musical instrument, like the various accordions and the harmonica. It has a bellows and buttons typically on both ends of it. When pressed, the buttons travel in the same direction as the bellows, unlike accordion buttons which travel perpendicularly to it. Also, each button produces one note, while accordions typically can produce chords with a single button.

Wishing Well

The challenge this week at Make it Crafty is to create Anything But A Card. I put together the Wishing Well kit available from Make it Crafty and decorated it with butterflies and dragonflies. Drop in a coin and make a wish!

The instructions are written very well and it wasn't that hard to put together. I forgot to count the number of pieces but they're all labeled clearly. The hardest part was figuring out how to decorate it. I finally decided to use some new earth tone decorative papers and sanded the edges for a worn look.

The inside of the well is lined with blue paper and the bucket as has paper to make it look full of water. The best part, turning the handle will actually lift the bucket up and down too!

Did you know? Millipedes' primary defense mechanism is to curl into a tight coil protecting their delicate legs inside an armored body exterior. Many species also emit poisonous liquid secretions or hydrogen cyanide gas through microscopic pores as a secondary defense. Animals such as Capuchin monkeys have been observed intentionally irritating millipedes in order to rub the chemicals on themselves to repel mosquitoes.

Update: I was selected as a top 5 at Meljen's Designs for this challenge!

Did you know? Every year in October, fainting goats are honored in Marshall County, Tennessee at the "Goats Music and More Festival". A fainting goat is a breed of domestic goat whose muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds when the goat is startled. Though painless, this generally results in the animal collapsing on its side. Fainting goats have many other names, including Myotonic Goats, Tennessee (Meat) Goats, Nervous Goats, Stiff-leg Goats, Wooden-leg Goats, and Tennessee Scare Goats.

Knight Charlie

In an effort to make more boy cards, I used Knight Charlie from Whiff of Joy and backdropped him with a mighty fortress, the Sandstone Citadel from Make it Crafty. However, by adding the stitching and ribbon I think it was disqualified in the true-boy card division. None the less, it was another fun card to make!

This castle is so much fun to color and I can see it done in the colors of Disney's castle or the one from Beauty & The Beast movie - both great for a princess! Again I used the shimmering paper to give it an added sparkle!

The challenge themes entered were an Anything Goes and Feeling Blue (use the color blue).

Did you know? A castle is a type of fortified structure built in Europe and the Middle East during the Middle Ages. Scholars debate the scope of the word castle, but usually consider it to be the private fortified residence of a lord or noble. This is distinct from a fortress, which was not a home, and from a fortified town, which was a public defense, though there are many similarities between these types of construction. The term has been popularly applied to structures as diverse as hill forts and country houses.
