Baking with Nana

Welcome to Grandma's kitchen where she's always happy to make you a batch of goodness while sharing stores. ;D I made this card using Baking with Nana from Belles 'n Whistles and the Kitchen Isle and Kitchen Wall set from Make it Crafty.

I made this card for Challenge #9 at Make it Colourful where the theme is to color shine. I attempted to the color the kitchen first starting with the stainless steel elements. The smaller areas were easy but I it became difficult on the larger areas, such as the refrigerator.

The kitchen set comes with the two images separated which makes it versitle. I chose to use them independently then to create a flap for the card on the front so the isle could be moved. The flap was attached with a strip of folded paper and can open all the way.

Here's the inside of the card with the flap open which shows the back wall of the kitchen and Grandma cooking. The tag is large enough to write a small sentiment or a card can be attached to the back for more writing.

Here's one last view showing just the front part of the card/flap in the open position. The Prima flower was colored with Copic markers and the Make it Crafty laser cut swirls are covered with Liquid Pearls.

Did you know? A schooner is a type of sailing vessel characterized by the use of fore-and-aft sails on two or more masts with the forward mast being no taller than the rear masts. According to the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica, the first vessel called a schooner was built by builder Andrew Robinson and launched in 1713 from Gloucester, Massachusetts. Legend has it that the name was the result of a spectator exclaiming "Oh how she scoons", scoon being similar to scon, a Scots word meaning to skip along the surface of the water. Robinson replied, "A schooner let her be." According to Walter William Skeat, the term schooner comes from scoon, while the sch spelling comes from the later adoption of the Dutch and German spellings ("Schoner").

Louisa Party Time

The challenge this week at The Stamping Bazaar is "Bling it on!" ... lots of bling! I made this carding using Louisa Part Time and this time I printed the image larger than normal. Then I added Stickels Glitter Glue, gems, and a charm for my bling. I need to make more "mail-able" cards so I tried to use all flat embellishments.

Did you know? Tau Ceti is a star in the constellation Cetus that is spectrally similar to the Sun, but only has about 78% of the Sun's mass. At a distance of just under 12 light years from the Solar System, it is a relatively close star. Unlike other prominent stars, Tau Ceti does not have a widely recognized traditional name. It can be seen with the unaided eye as a faint third-magnitude star.

Spring Whisper

The challenge this week at Little Miss Muffet Challenges is to use Designer Paper - that's simple enough for most! Plus I'm have a design team call this month so head on over for all the details. Here's one of my projects I made using Spring Whisper.

Most of the elements I have used before but the newest on the scene is a paper diecut from the K&Company BW Flora & Fauna package (the cream flower sillouette in the background). These diecuts are large and detailed so I've been waiting for just the right project to use one.

Did you know? Flying discs are disc-shaped gliders which are generally plastic and roughly 20 to 25 centimeters (8–10 inches) in diameter, with a lip. The shape of the disc, an airfoil in cross-section, allows it to fly by generating lift as it moves through the air while rotating. The term Frisbee, often used uncapitalized generically to describe all flying discs, is a registered trademark of the Wham-O toy company. Such use is not encouraged by the company, whose concern is that the use of the name in generic fashion may put the trademark in jeopardy.
