Pirate Maxine

We're opening up another challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges today and the theme is Summer Fun!  The DT have featured images from the Funky Pirates at Simply Betty Stamps and have given their project a warm summery feel to them.  For my project I used Pirate Maxine which is one of my favorites in that line and I used some bright oranges to set the tone.

This image was so fun to color and I even got out my E4 Copic marker and added sharp lines.  I'm getting comfortable with the technique enough that I'll probably do it on all my images (when I remember) since I like how the shadows turn out.  And did you notice my new watermark?  Betty put that together for me - thanks Betty!!  :D

I kept the card simple today but I made sure to add lots and lots of jewels!!  That's what every girl needs, right?  LOL  Be sure to check out the rest of the team's inspirational projects at the SCC Blog and let's see what you Summer Fun projects you can come up with!!

Penny Farthing

The challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps this fortnight is to create a project that is round or circle in shape!  We want to see you get out of the square box and go for something round.  :D  Do you think you can do it?  However, the good news is IF you're using a LMMS then you can still create anything you want.  Tricky!  :D

For my project I used the Penny Farthing from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and a few of my Nestability diecuts to create the card.  It was actually a really quick card to put together once I had the image colored and the papers selected.  Then the accessories were just borrowed from the desk - the best place for little scraps.  LOL

Right now I'm watching the movie Arrietty and I just love the part where she is walking through the house for the first time for her first borrowing!  I can totally imagine all that stuff happening in my walls - so fun.  :D  Anyway, be sure to check out the LMM Challenge blog for everyone's projects for this challenge - they're fantastic!!  Thanks for stopping by.

Maritime Abode

It's my day at Make it Crafty Blog to share a project and I wanted to try out a new technique today however I'm not sure how it turned out.  None the less I wanted to share what I did and hopefully give you some idea.  I saw a drawing the other day in a magazine that was colored etching, I think.  At least it reminded me of those black papers that you can scratch off and draw in reverse - so instead of adding black to the canvas you'd be taking black away.  I started with the image Maritime Abode from Make it Crafty which I had previously colored...

Then using a black art pen (use size 0.1 or something fine tipped) I started with the darker areas and add scratches into the shadows.  I also went over all the lines with a medium art pen (use size 2.5 or similar) to darken them up. As you can see the lines are sketchy and not precise so I was able to go over the image quickly.  I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I was attempting to get it to look like the edges weren't completely scratched off.  I think I could have used the same technique around the outside of the abode but for that area I only added a darker line.

Here's what the complete image looks like below.  I added streaks of blue and green for water as if this submarine had sank into the deep ocean.  I should have done the background first before using the art pens because as you can see in some areas the pen smeared when I dragged a Copic marker over it.  It was an interesting experiment and I think it looks better from afar than close up.  Does it looks like etching?  I'm not sure but it certainly changes the image a bit and gives it more of an edge. Thanks for dropping by and maybe you'll be brave enough to give this a whirl!!

Under the Sea Mae

'Tis the season for mermaids and summer fun... well, at least in the northern hemisphere it is!  :D  So here's another card featuring Under the Sea Mae from Some Odd Girl which was released earlier this month.  I also used the coordinating sentiment that comes with it and created this card..."Make a Splash!"

I can't find my brain today!!  I'm taking a summer class that is just killing my brain cells every moment and when I'm not in class I worry about the homework I *should* be doing.  LOL  But I really want to color and relax... maybe even take a little nap.  :D  So this is a card I've had saved up that was created a while ago and is perfect for these summer days.  I always think mermaid hair is always so fun to color because it isn't weighed down by gravity.

The movie I'm watching right now is called "Best is Show" and is one of the funniest, most awark, satire movies I've seen in a while.  It might not be for everyone but it's one I totally understand from both sides of the fence and I still adore it.  :D  I think I'll put in "A Mighty Wind" next and call it a marathon.  LOL

Celeste Amberglow Farmin' Apples

Monday posts are always the hardest to write - don't you think?! Right now I've got my littlest yelling "ame oy! ame oy!" wanting to play another 14 hours with the GameBoy which I've secretly hidden away. He he he. I've been told she'll survive. LOL

Today's post is all about Little Miss Muffet Stamps and you'll want to be sure to visit the LMM Blog for all the other inspiration from the Project Team! They've pooled together some projects using the rubber stamps and I love each one of them. :D

For my project I used Celeste Amberglow Farmin' Apples which is actually a Little Miss Muffet Stamps digi and was drawn by Paula from Pollycraft! When these cuties were released I ended up colored every one of them and made cards so now I have practically a whole month of inspiration just waiting to share! I made each of them generic cards but I plan to use them as birthday cards - which is what I use my cards for the most. Speaking of which, I really, really need to get June and July cards out before it gets any more embarrassing. (o.o)

That's about all I have to write at the moment... I've got to find some other toy to occupy my toddler's mind or I'm going to go crazy with "ame oy!" LOL Have a wonderful Monday!
