Fancy Sunbonnet Winter Snowball

Bugaboo is having a week long Christmas in July event and Little Miss Muffet Stamps is supporting them today!  When they invited us for the third Annual Bugaboo Christmas in July Celebration and Blog Hop, we just had to throw some samples into the pot to show our support.  :D

Every day this week, there will be something fabulous going on at Bugaboo with brilliant prizes along the way. Be sure to pick up all the details at Catch the Bug, you wouldn't want to miss a thing!  You can click there for the start of the hop which will also take you to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog as one of the stops.

For my project I wanted to show off one of the Bugaboo rubber stamps that is available at Little Miss Muffet Stamps... this one is Fancy Sunbonnet Winter Snowball.  She even versatile enough that the snowball can easily be turned into a bauble!  You'll have to check out Faye's website to see that.  She has a great story to go along with it.  :D  The sentiment is one that was included in another Fancy Sunbonnet stamp and worked great for this one too.

The rest of the card was simple to put together.  I had a large crossword background stamp that I used on the decorative paper then added some more black and teal accents with the ribbon.  Lastly, the sentiment was stamped in London Fog and a tag was created.

The snow was something I wanted to try and I did a reverse technique of the clouds.  Then added some white from a gel pen to give it a glistening look.  It's interesting how it turned out and not sure if I like it or not yet.  LOL  Anyway, thanks for dropping by and you can click HERE to start your hop!

Fancy Sunbonnet Miss Muffet

It's Thursday, it's Thursday!  Oh my, we have a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps to introduce!  I'm super excited for many reasons but one of those was because I was just about to head to bed without a second though.  Then at last minute, my eye bulged open and my heart started pumping as I remember it was my turn to write the post too!  Gasp!  Well, I'm awake now!  LOL

The challenge this round is to create something inspired by a Nursery Rhyme!  I couldn't think of any better rhyme to use than "Little Miss Muffet Sat on a Tuffet" and I had the perfect stamp to go with it!  It was like the rhyme, stamp and company are three peas in a pod!  LOL  So, what image is it exactly?  Glad you asked!  Featured on this project is "Fancy Sunbonnet Miss Muffet" and "Birds on a Wire Metal Die" from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  And the Sunbonnet image was drawn by the talented Jodie at Bugaboo.  Squeal - I just love these images!

Another thing I like about nursery rhymes is to learn about their history and what their possible meanings are about.  I'm sure this is acquired learning since it was never something I was really interested in until I had kids.  Then it was like a light bulb went off and I just had to know what was behind it all before I pass along the tradition to the next generation.  For example, did you know this poem first appeared in print in 1805?  I always thought it was older than that... but 1805, IS a long time ago!

I hope you get a chance to head on over to the LMMS Blog to check out everyone else's fabulous creations!  They've done an excellent job and I'm always so proud of what they create!  :D

Jr Hatter Lilith

For those who have been part of the Little Miss Muffet Stamps FaceBook group, know that there was a little competition put forth by Zoe (from Make it Crafty).  She challenged me (and everyone else) to color up Jr. Hatter Lilith using colored pencils.  For some, I'm sure that would be an easy task, but me, I have such a hard time with pencils that it truly was a challenge!  AND this is why Zoe picked it too!  LOL

The first thing I did was start by merging some images as I also wanted to include a background from Make it Crafty.  So on this project I've used Jr. Hatter Lilith and the Birds on a Wire Metal Die from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  The mushrooms and clouds are from the Whimsical Digi Elements from Make it Crafty.

The coloring was interesting and I received a lot of help in the LMMS FB group too.  I was worried about all the specks of white that couldn't be filled in and in the end, we decided that it was my paper that was causing the problem.  I tried everything from sharp pencils (which helped), circular coloring (also helped) and some type of blending solution (which partially helped only in some ares).  Of course, the smoother the surface was the better too but with the paper I had it didn't seem to matter what I was coloring on.

Anyway, this is the final result!  You can check out the LMMS FB group for more samples as there has been a lot of people participating and even a few more yet to come!!  They're all fantastic and so inspiring!

Pipi Faye

I had a totally different project that I was going to share with you today but the excitement in the MiC FB group of a new challenge was just too tempting to pass up!  The challenge we sent out by Melanie who chose these two images then stipulated it was a no lines challenge.  Gasp!  I struggle with no lines because I have to think differently about my coloring - imagine that.  LOL  But that's what is so much fun about a true challenge which allows me to challenge my own personal style, my own skills and so on.  SO to make the long story short.... I accepted!  LOL

I thought I was finished then I remembered the currently monthly MiC challenge which was all about dew drops.  Jennifer has a fantastic tutorial (http://www.makeitcrafty.com/store-blog/techniques/moon-drops-water-drops-tutorial) on this blog about dew drops so I thought I'd add that into the mix - why not, right?  The tutorial was easy enough to follow but then after I was finished I realized the stark black lines of the dew drops were standing out like a sore thumb against the no-lines coloring.  Yikes!  Oh well, live and learn.

The images are from the new Whimsical collection that was just released which are absolutely adorable!  This is a merge of Pipi Faye and Whimsical Flowers background.   I had reversed Pipi Faye then zoomed in on the two so I didn't have to color so much.  The image was colored with Copic markers then when the paper wouldn't accept anymore ink (i.e. it just kept pushing it around and there wasn't any more blending to be done) then I dragged out my Prismacolor Pencils and tried to finish it off.

The last thing I did was follow in the footsteps of Daria (http://daria-pn.blogspot.com/) and add the white pearls in the hair.  :D  I love getting inspiration from everyone and I hope this has bit of an inspiration to you as well.  Thanks for coming by and have a great weekend!

Cozy Cafe

I'm excited to share one of the more popular stamps at Little Miss Muffet today for the Sunday Spotlight!  I love the Sunday Spotlight because it gives me a chance to work with a favorite stamp.  :D  Anyway, today we're focusing on the Cozy Cafe and if you remember the last time I used this I combined it with Taylor.  (Click HERE to see that project!)  So today, I've chosen to use just the table and flowers.

I started with stamping the flowers then masking them with the same image stamped on a post-it note, cut out and placed on top of my original stamp.  Then I inked up the table, crossed my fingers and bit my tounge, then did the best I could to stamp the table and have the flowers aligned up.  It actually took me two tries!  LOL  Maybe cutting out the flowers would have been better but sometimes I like how the masking turns out much better.  So the flowers are perfectly center on the table, but I'm ok with that.  LOL

Here's a close up of the colored image.  I went with the black and white theme with a splash of color that I had seen Faye use a while ago.  Her card looked awesome and so I was hoping it would work on this card as well.

This stamp includes five different images... chair, table and three different table toppers.  And remember, it's only on sale for today only!  So click HERE to get it while you can!
