Fancy Sunbonnet Patriotic Flag

There is a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps this week and the theme is all about being thankful.  That theme can encompass thank you cards, giving thanks, blessings, Thanksgiving and so on.  In addition, due to the recent atrocities in Paris, France, the theme was extended to cards of support too.

I chose to create a card using Fancy Sunbonnet Patriotic Flag which worked perfectly.  The flag is blank, for the purpose of customization, so I colored it to resemble the French flag.  The colors for the rest of the project, of course, are set to follow suit - blue, white and red.

I have a small selection of international sentiments - most of them are German, French or Spanish.  I selected a French sentiment, GROS {CÂLINS} that translates to BIG {HUGS}.

I ordered some blue knitting/crochet markers from Marika recently and wanted to use one.  I attached an Eiffel Tower charm and then clipped it onto my project.  Here's a detailed view . . .

Sonny Honeycloud Party

This is one of those cards that came to be when I was inspired by the colors of the pattern paper.  The paper I used was a nice teal color and I thought it would be perfect with a bit of pink.  The stamp I used was Sonny Honeycloud Party from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  This is such a fun stamp and there are other adorable colored versions in the store that you can peek at.

This is a limited card kit!

So this will be a longer post than normal as I include a few extra helpful tidbits.  The kit contains the supplies to recreate this card (minus the inks, markers and glue) but also includes the Sonny Honeycloud Party rubber stamp.  Click HERE to order the kit and remember that supplies are limited so grab it while you can.

Most of my cards are just under 6"x6" because I can't easily find any envelopes that can accommodate a 6"x6" handmade card.  So I trim the card base down to 5 3/4" by 5 3/4" and work my way down through the layers. For the decorative layers, I used a black sponge ink pad and lightly went around the edges for a soft aged feel. In some areas, I used a distressing tool and roughed up the edges too.

I stamped Sonny in Memento London Gray and used Copic markers to color her.

Skin:  E35, 31, 30, 000, R12
Eyes: E79, 77, 74, 71, C3, 1, white gel-pen
Lips: E04, RV09
Hair: E57, 35, 31, 21, 30
Pink: RV21, 13, 09, 0000
Black/White: W8, 6, 4, 2
Teal: BG75, 53, 45, 000
Shadow: BV23
Green: YG67, 25, 21, G24, 20

After the image was colored, I trimmed down the white cardstock and fussy cut around to fit.  Then I used a black liner pen and sketched two lines for a border.  I did this for the sentiment chipboard as well and then wrote Happy Birthday.  The rest was assembling the card together - the pink lace was just added to the top and the gingham ribbon was wrapped around the card.  A bow was tied and then glued into place.  I used foam dots to give dimension between the top layer and the lace doily; which means the brads for the sentiment only through the top two layers (white/black).

Miss Anya Hats Off

Today is my day to post on The Greeting Farm blog and I've been working on some tags for the holiday season to be used with gift cards.  I started out with the Cutters Baggies and Tags metal die from CC Designs then began adding stuff to it.  For this post, I'm going to focus on the red one ... "you're something special."

The image I used is one of the girls from Miss Anya Hats Off from The Greeting Farm.  This girl is a sitting gal so I also used the chair from Cozy Cafe from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.   I fussy cut around the images to merge them instead of masking them when I stamped.  I was doubting myself about the fussy cutting when I started cutting out the decorative part of the chair.  It was luck that I started on the left side because I was able to give up when I got around the top.  LOL  They're both mounted with foam so they stick out from the card for some dimension.

Copic colors used:

R59, 46, 12, 05
W8, 6, 4, 2
B99, 97, 95, 93, 91
C5, 4, 3, 2
E35, 34, 31, 30, 00, 0000
YR24, Y32, Y21
110, 0, E49, BV23

Paper: EP Keepin' Cozy

For the outside envelope, I found an older TGF sentiment which worked well for the occasion. I loved how Marika used a bunch of different ribbons on her project so I followed suit.  Then I tied them all together with baker's twine.  I also used the same twine for the outside of the envelope.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are off to a great week!
