Season's Greetings Lola

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm excited to say that today starts the second challenge at Simply B Stamp and we have a fun one for you! This time we want you to get out your "Spritz, Masks and Paints" for your project! So go head - you've got our permission to get dirty. ;D You can check out the SBS Blog to see more inspiration, get the details on this challenge and to enter your projects!

For my project I used Season's Greetings Lola from Simply B Stamps and converted the theme into a Valentine project. My kids wear all sorts of hats, so why not a sock hat for non-Christmas days?! My five year old told me it was okay so it must be true! :D After all, what little mouse wouldn't adore getting a slice of cheese for Valentines - better than chocolate, he says. LOL

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up - the set name is "Douce douzaine" and all the sayings are in French. It's a great year-round themed set and this one, of course, is for Valentines.

To fit the challenge theme I used the Copic airbrush and R46 to give it color around the edges and on the kraft cardstock. I even got a little brave and tried to color the tips of her hair pink but didn't get very far before I was scared off. Next time, I'll brush it on like normal, however, it was a good experiment.

Hope you've got some grand plans for Valentines Day - I know I do! :D

Sweetheart Marci

It's almost right smack in the middle of February and I thought I best be showing some Valentine projects! Here's one I've had finished for a while which was originally for a flower power challenge, hence all the flowers. This project uses Sweetheart Marci Digi Scene from La-La Land Crafts which is one of the ones I purchased back in January. Check it out...

I think if I was to do it again, I'd remove all the flowers. Most of my projects are sans-flowers so I guess it's good to create outside of my comfort zone once in a while. :D I also added the white lace and used a Tim Holtz die for the clock face in the background. I love coloring their faces with the extra details which really brings out a 3D look. On this project I also brought out the white gel pen and added extra details to the hearts. My own daughter is in this phase and lately has been cutting hearts galore every day after school! Scalloped ones, big ones, small ones, hearts within hearts, reds, pinks, purples - you name it... she's been cutting it! I think when Valentines finally hits she'll have enough to give all her classmates two or three each! LOL

It's the final day of our previews for Simply B Stamps and you know what that meas? It's release day!! Whohoo! We have one more image to preview off but before I show you my project, make sure you visit the SBS Blog for all the release details on how to get your Teen Scene set!

For our last day we are bringing you Betty Munster and she has baked one yummy cake to share! What's her secret ingredient? Well, it's Eye of Newt of course. Plus a little frog tongues and spider legs for that added kick. LOL Check out that atomic green icing... doesn't that look yummy!

The background is another one of those Halloween stickers I found at Target or Walmart. I was tempted to put Betty Munster on there and leave it... but a few ideas popped into my head and I added the kraft tag, spider webs and some gems for good measure. It turned out better than I thought. Hope you've enjoyed it and thanks for keeping with me through this release! :D

For my project I've used Caroline from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. I drew up this little cutie which was directly inspired by my own daughter. One day while shopping she spotted this sock monkey hat in the store and wanted to try it on. Apparently someone else didn't want it because we found it in the electronics section all alone. LOL It was large a large size - probably a one-size-fits-all but to my 4-year-old it seemed like an XL. We also carry things around the store in a similar fashion - hay, anything to keep the kids happy while shopping, right?! Well, little did I know that this particular item would be permanently attached! We ended up getting it - after all, winter was *was* approaching so I could justify it. The funny thing is, she wore it the whole week and even slept with it on! :D It wasn't long before this trendy new idea caught on and we had to go back to find hats for my other two kids. So now we have a dinosaur and panda hat to add to the collection! LOL

Thanks for stopping by... and for those wondering where my elusive camera was yesterday? Well, it's embarrassing to say, but I had it right behind my laptop screen - only just 5 inches away from where I was typing!! (I'll hide my head in shame now.) I knew I would have problems finding it so I hid it from my daughter... which, apparently was a too good of a spot for myself. LOL

Welcome back to another day of preview for Simply B Stamps! Today we have a new character to show in the Teen Scene line... meet Chris Munster!! This little dude look ready for any kind of party, although, I got him all decked out for a Halloween. ;D

I created this tag using one of the diecuts from Stampin' Up! and some paper and stickers I've had from last year. Actually, I think I've had this paper for two years now but it's still some of my favorite. I've enjoyed doing these tags and can't wait to start using them. My family gets together often and we celebrate birthdays once a month so they'll be perfect to use.

Thanks to everyone who left those wonderful comments yesterday and wishing Rio a Happy Birthday! It was great! I have another project later today and if you get a chance you can come back... On my card I used Everyday Flair designer paper from My Minds Eye and used those colors for Princess Rio. Then I went back in and added some black dots to the presents and white highlights in her hair. She's the perfect image for any birthday girl and such fun to color. ;D

My daughter has swiped my camera earlier today and it took forever to find it! She has some crazy hiding spots including one for herself in the kitchen cabinets. The other day I found a whole stash of toys under there. LOL I remember my own special hiding space and how it got smaller and smaller as I grew up... but the best part was, my brothers never found it so it was a perfect getaway. ;D

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and is in French, which translated says: "Isn't that wonderful? Happy Birthday. Make a wish. How old are you? And that's not all. Eat cake! Blow out the candles."

Miller Munster

Welcome back to day four of the new releases from Simply B Stamps! I'm excited to show you another boy birthday card but even more excited to add one to my stash! I've already used my last one - just sent it out yesterday. They slip through my hands like butter on a hot summer day!

The image I used is Miller Munster from Simply B Stamps and I even got to use a few of my new Copic colors. I was excited about the khaki greens and fig colors so that's what I used on his shorts and jacket - that would be E81, E84, E87 and E89. I like how it turned out and it's just the right shade of putrid green and warm grays for my liking.

The sentiment stamp and ticket die are from Whimsy which turned out to be perfect for this image. The last time I used this sentiment, it wasn't exactly fitting but now I think I've redeemed myself. LOL

Birthday Confetti London

Welcome back to day three of the new releases at Simpy B Stamps and today we're bringing you Birthday Confetti London! This gal is perfect for throwing confetti at any party or even winning the marathon and passing the finish line. I think the ideas are endless... great for graduation too. ;D Don't forget to check out the SBS Blog to see what the other design team members have created for you today.

I love the little cat with her pouncing on the confetti strands! I had fun with this image and even brought out the fluorescent Copic markers to color the confetti. I've heard they look awesome under a black light so I'm going to do some more experimenting and purchase a black light the next time I'm at the store. Jane has already beat me to the punch and hopefully you'll see her creation pop up on her blog soon too.

The felt flowers are new on this project and are from my stash of unused flowers - I really need to use more of them! I think they were from Stampin Up but since retired. Other than that, I have the standard embellishments and went for a birthday themed card with the ice cream cones in the background. Yummy! Come on back tomorrow and I'll "share" some cake too. LOL

Party Lola

Welcome back to the second day of previews for Simply B Stamps! Today we're bringing you inspiration featuring Party Lola!! All of the images are so much fun in this release but I think this is one of my favorites. Make sure you visit the SBS Blog for the more inspiration and ideas on how to color her.

This project didn't start out this way and I was planning on creating a birthday tag. However, I was so inspired by how Cleota and Rimna did their cards with the background that I totally forgot about my plan and had to make a card instead. On one of her cards she used several colors and dotted around with different size circles. I love how it looked and thought it would be perfect for a birthday themed image.

I love Party Lola's plaid skirt which reminded me of a Scottish clan tartan. Then I had to give her red hair - I don't know why, but tartans and red hair just fit in my mind. The card came together easily enough and will hopefully cheer up someone on their special day. That's about all folks and thanks for stopping by!

Let's celebrate this month with a fresh new release from Simply B Stamps!! Today is our first preview day of a new Teen Scene theme specifically for celebrating! Plus there is a new character that will be introduced later on in the previews so stay tuned as we celebrate all week long. ;D

Today we're showing Pugsly Christian from Simply B Stamps, the first of seven new stamps. I was inspired by Kristy to color his hair with teal highlights, although I think she did a better job with the lighter browns. Oh well, something I can try next time. I always need boy birthday cards so I broke away from the journals and tags and made this card using the Toy Box Collection paper theme from Crate Paper. I'm excited to say there are two more boy images in this release so I might actually get ahead and have a few extra! Are you ready to get your socks knocked off? No, I'm not bragging about my project - but I have some exciting news to share!! I'm now officially an odd girl! I've been asked to join the Some Odd Girls Nouveau Design Team and I'm so excited! You can visit their blog to read about the other girls on the team but first, take a look at my project...

I used Believe from Some Odd Girls and paired her with the Timber Top Ridge from Make it Crafty. Also, all thee orange and red flowers are accessory stamps that come with the Believe stamp - they made a perfect embellishment. ;D Check out how gorgeous she is colored up...

This is another project I did where I experimented with the reds. Over at Make it Colourful the challenge is to use different colors to blend in with your reds. Earlier today I showed what red would look like with turquoise (click HERE to see) but on this I used RV91, RV 93 and RV95 as the base tone.

After I colored her dress with the RV tones, I went back in and recolored on top of that with the reds. I think I used R11, R21, R14, R24, R37, R46 and R59. It has more of a pinkish highlight to it like the light is reflecting at a different angle off of the fabric. Other than that, I didn't noticed much of a change... maybe it's more deep in tone? Not sure, but it was good to experiment.

It's that time of year for plenty of smooching and ooglies... Valentines day! This round at Little Miss Muffet Stamps the challenge is to create a Valentine or Love inspired project. (Or if you use a LMM stamp then you can submit anything you'd like!) I chose to make a tag this time around with of the the newer releases from last week... meet Hooch!

If you remember (or go visit the store to see Hooch) you'll notice that his bow used to be turquoise! The challenge at Make it Colourful is to color reds using other colors and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see what that would look like with a turquoise base. So I colored over the bow using R05, R22, R46 and R14 and this is what I came up with... it's more of a dark burgundy but a good experiment.

One of my favorite color combinations is pink and chocolate browns so I love this time of year. ;D The tag was simple and quick to put together and I added a touch of green to help contrast all that pink. Several of the elements are actually from my older stash so it felt good to use up some of those older supplies. He he he. On the Pot Girl

One thing I've learned while growing up is a saying on the wall is more nagging that a Mom could ever be!! I remember two in particular that my Mom would have hanging on the wall and everyt time I'd pass it I would read it. Even to this day, they still pop into my head!! So that's why I decided to use the same tactics on my kids and created these signs...

The images I used are On the Pot Girl S and On the Pot girl C from Mo's Digital Pencil which are unusual but perfect for the task. ;D I place them inside the parchment paper which is actually an altered version of the Treasure Map digi from Make it Crafty. On the first one, above, I thought it would be fun to draw in push pins only afterwords did I realize the paper curled at the top and it looked silly so I had to alter that corner a little. :D You can see the difference when you look at the second one below.

I'm sure your curious by now... what were the two saying that I remember from my childhood? The first one was in the kitchen and it said "You have two choices for dinner - take it or leave it." The second one was in the family room or hallway and it said "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." I'm lucky to have both of them hanging in my own hous today... only after I found out that my Mom hated the reminder just as much as us kids did. LOL

So this is just your friendly reminder... next time you find yourself in the bathroom, make sure you FLUSH the toilet and WASH your hands!! :D

Teen Scene Valentines

I have another Simply B Project to show you this weekend, this one features all the Teen Scene Valentines! I lined up all six of them and created a scene, which of course, was too big for a card so I created a journal page. Check it out...

The images I used are, from left to right, My Heart a Flutter Christian, Big Love Gun Lola, A Heart for You Rio, My Funky Valentine Betty, Box of Chocolates London and Kitty Love London. Each of them was so much fun to color but I think my favorite is Lola. ;D We've all got to have a favorite right?!

This also gave me the perfect opportunity to try out coloring more grass. I used about seven or eight different greens and yellows going from light colors to dark until the whole area was filled in. Then I went back in with a dark red and dark purple and added some flowers. Oh, I also added some yellow flowers at the top then went in with the white gel pen and lightened it up. Hope you enjoyed the project and Happy early Valentines. ;D

Gumnut Flower Girl

I had so much fun with my last Australian themed project that after I finished hopping I had to do another! This one take several of my favorite elements from all my hopping buddies and combines them all into one! If you missed the hop, just click HERE to start at the beginning for some fabulous Make it Crafty inspiration!

For this project I used several images from Make it Crafty including the adorable Gumnut Flower Girl! I was suppose to be coloring something else but she distracted me too much and I put my obligations aside and had a little fun. LOL The other images I also used are... Australian Outback Elements (for the road, horizon and shrubss), Outback Objects Elements (for the water tower, tree and Ayers rock), Platypus & Platypup, Kangaroo & Joey, and the Gumnut Elements. (However, if you have to have them all, like I did, then check out the Australian Outback Collection which has it all!)

The gumnut corner was directly inspired by Debbie from her blog hop project and I couldn't think of a better way to color it so before I hopped to the next stop, I paused to color mine exactly the same way. :D I also colored a Kookaburra from Debbie's example, but decided to put it on another project. If you don't want to merge your own corner of gumnuts and leaves then check out the premade Gumnet Small Corner.

This is the Gumnut Flower Girl and it was Ruby that inspired me to color her because of the way she shaded the skin, specifically the knees. I hadn't done that before, so again, I stopped hopping for a moment and tried to copy hers. I decided to give her a pink skirt instead because it reminded me of the gumnut flowers - plus I haven't colored with this tone of pink in a long time. I think I used RV00, RV11, RV14, RV19, RV29, RV34 and a little RV69.

The Kangaroo & Joey was colored using the store samples for inspiration, which Debbie also colored. She got the texture of the fur spot on and I wanted to see if I could do the same. I first started dotting on the darker colors but half way into the middle tones I started blending in circles. It was really done by accident becuase the dotting was looking terrible and I thought if anything, blending might help me recover. Little did I know... it's eactly what I wanted!

The Platypus & Platypup was done the same way too (also inspired by Debbie) but they so small on the project that the texture didn't work out as well. Seeing that I was helped by my two little misses on creating this project... I had to include two animals! Because of course, they wouldn't agree on the same one. :D

To me, nothing say Australian more than the Ayers Rock. I alway love how it looms in the background and the rich sandstone colors make for some lovely pictures! Finally, I scattered the journal page with Mix 'n Match Centres and Mini Dragonflies chippies. It was a fun project to put together and I enjoyed merging all the Australian elements together. ;D

Prom Queen Rio

It's a challenge day at Simply B Stamps!! The challenge this month is Halloween themed and we want you to create a monochromatic project with one additional color. For my project, as you can see, I chose to use blood red as my added Halloween color.

The image I used is Prom Queen Rio which is from the Back 2 School Teen Scene from Simply B Stamps. The background is actually a Halloween sticker and is what I got my inspiration from. So the card was really simple to put together... just peel and stick on kraft paper and then added some rhinestones and mesh ribbon.

If you can see, I added a few rhinestones to her tiara and over all the red areas and her banner I went over it with a Spica Atou glitter pen. MiC Australian Day

I'm back again for my second project today... now isn't that lucky for you! LOL This one is a journal page that I did to celebrate Australian Day and to show off a couple of the new images from Make it Crafty! Welcome to the hop!

You should have arrived here from the talented AJ - which is also the beginning!

I had asked Zoe to send me any two images, a background and a person or animal, to color so this the combination that arrived in my inbox! It made me laugh because it reminded me of the expression... "Does a bear s*** in the woods?" and so the combination was perfect to fit the Australian theme ... "Does a koala s*** in the outback?"

The images I used are Outback Dunny and Koala & Joey from Make it Crafty, plus some corner chippies in Fine Swirls. I used a little bit of burlap ribbon for texture and gray felt clouds to bring out the gray in the koalas. Plus with the green fields of the outback... it has to be during the rainy season! Here's a close-up of the Koalas...

It's a big day over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps with a whole set of New Releases this week! For my project I chose to use Macie and create a Christmas card. Again, this was actually one that I had made back in December, but shhhh... don't tell the DT about that! LOL One of these days I'm going to run out of finished projects and will eventually have to start making some. But I think I have four more projects... aren't I just lucky?! :D

This Little Miss is in seventh heaven with her little turtle friend and I'm sure spends hours and hours of imaginary play! Her dress comes with and without the poinsette on the front so she is perfect for any occasion. Sweet Cherub

Here's the counter part to the Sweet Angel I posted yesterday... this is Sweet Cherub from Make it Crafty, plus some of their snowflake chippies. These two angels look great together as well and look like their holding hands. Just darling. ;D

I'm just about getting to the end of all my saved projects from December so I guess that means I need to get crack-a-lacking and work on some more projects!! Hmmm... what should I do next? There are so many choices but I think I have project in mind with lots of black and white. However, I need an accent color and I'm getting tired of the usual standbys. Anyone have any suggestions? It's a romantic project but that's the only hint I'm giving at the moment. He he he

Sweet Angel

This will be a quick post to show off one of my Christmas cards that I made last month. This one features Sweet Angel from Make it Crafty plus some snowflake chippies. This little angel was quick to color and with the soft color scheme really makes her sweet. :D

I used a simple layout and even got out some new ribbon I purchased which matched perfectly with the snowflake decorative paper. This little angel has a friend too which I'll show tomorrow. Hope you all have a sweet day!

The challenge right now at Make it Crafty is to color blades of grass and there is several ways this can be done! This is one of my projects I've had saved up with shows short blades of grass. I used a few different colors of green and just flicked up with the brush tip. It also helps to have some of the blades of grass color over the bottom part of the image.

It's not very often that I have the colors written down anymore, but I do for this project...

The images I used are Mod Marci, Suitcase Set, and Lil' Rocker Luka all from La-La Land Crafts. I recently purchased each of these in digi form and assembled this scene together. Here's a close up of Marci and Luka.

Both faces were shaded in giving them colored eyes and even eyeglasses on Luka. The first thing I did was leave the area white like most people do already when they color LLLC images. Then I shaded in the eyelid going from tip to tip of the black curved line. After that I added the color around the eye and finally came back in with a white gel pen for some highlights.

I also shaded in Luka's glasses by using a darker color green for the shadow areas first then working my way into the lighter colors. Luka's guitar was done the same way too ... starting with the flames, going from red to yellow then finally comeing back in and coloring the black. Perhaps I'll get a chance to play around with more grass techniques before the challenge is over. We'll see! :D

Pirate Luka

Each month as I go through my stack of cards, I never seem to have enough boy cards - I'm always using my last one! However, as long as there is one last one to grab then I'm all set. LOL So to add to my box, here's a fun boy card that I created with Pirate Luka from La-La Land Crafts and background images from Make it Crafty, Lonely Island. LLLC has a sale going on now and I was able to purchase a few favorites.

I chose to go with a monochromatic look and used each of the four shades of gray in the Copic range. (C0-C8, N0-N8, T0-T8 and W0-W8) I think it gives it an interesting effect and I liked how each of the elements could be featured/highlighted separately.

I shaded Luka's face with Copic markers giving difinition to his nose and eyes. Then with a white gel pen I added some highlights back in. It was actually easier that it looks and only a step or two more than how some already color the faces. Just shade in the eyelid first and then add color around the eye for the iris.

Here's a close up of the background, Lonely Island from Make it Craft, and I extended the water to the edges of my paper. The rest of the card was put together with some ribbon, Dew Drops, chippies and a ticket diecut tag from Whimsy. "Hope ye enjoyed de carrrd!" ;D

Tea Time Lily

Welcome back and today I even have a new project to show off!! I had plans to get to two projects today but ran out of steam... so you can read about that "phantom" later on. But first, I wanted to show off Tea Time Lily from Simply B Stamps! Isn't she cute!! You can head on over to the SBS Blog and see more inspiration too.

For my project I made a cute little tag using a few new elements I got in December. My first new toy is a set of diecut tags from Stampin' Up! They're the perfect size for a quick project and a tag is a great way to dress up a little gift too.

If you haven't noticed the maze yet, that is my other fun new product, also from Stampin' Up! There is a coordinating stamp set to go with is which is where I got the sentiment from. But the maze is fun because I can take of the backing and customize it... which of course, I did for this project! And here's a close up of Tea Time Lily!

For my other phantom project... it was to instroduce the new Little Miss Muffet Challenge that is starting today. The theme is "Blues & Creams" and you don't want to miss out on the inspriation that the DT has created for you today.

Four Missions

Here's another pre-Christmas project that I have had saved up to show off for a later date... which apparently is today! LOL My sister has had these four LDS Missionary Tags for a couple years now and has been wanting to put together a shadow box display for our Mom. So with a little help and swapping of chores... this is what we came up with:

Each corner is represented by a LDS Mission that one of my siblings served on. I possitioned them from the oldest to the youngest which also corresponds to the dates they were serving.

Here's a close up of the corners each with a bunch of details... the location of where they served, a map with a star to the city, the language they spoke, the years they were gone and the initial of their first name.

The gift was a success and probably the best one of the year... so everything was worth it! We loved the reaction and I know it will be cherished for years to come. ;D Hope you enjoyed it too!

Duffy

This little Christmas Elf was starting to feel left out... only if I had scheduled a few posts before I got sick! But that's hindsight - 20/20. LOL So this last little guy is Duffy from Make it Crafty and is also available in rubber in the Christmas Elves Collection.

The formula and layout for this holiday card is the same as the others and it was really nice to get them done so quickly. I spent a week coloring all the new images (well, back when they were new) then just before Christmas I cut papers from the same pack, used the same size and finally embellished them the same too - chippies and ribbon. It was great to get them all done in only a couple hours and now I've started my stash for the next holiday season!! Yeah! :D

Mad Hatter & White Rabbit

Well, what can I say... I'm back home but where do I even begin! I can now fully sympathize with anyone who has had pneumonia. But the good news is, I'm back home and have access to the internet... in between my long naps, of course. LOL So to start off, I have a long awaited project to show off using some Kraftin' Kimmie stamps!!

This is a journal page I made at the end of November and was saving it for one of my last posts as a Kraftin' Kimmie Guest towards the end of the December. So maybe we can pretend it's the last Friday in December for a few minutes and I can give my proper farewells. It was such a fun time being their guest and I loved making each of my projects - thanks Kimmie!! :D

For my project I used the new Mad Hatter and White Rabbit from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and in the background I used Country Sunset from Make it Crafty. The sketch I used is actually from a previous Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge - Challenge #108 and stretched it to fit the journal size page. I also used one of Kimmie's Sentiment from Wonderland Sentiments.

Here are close up pictures of the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit. I almost felt stuck in what colors I used but I took inpsiration in the background I colored and came up with this combination. Then I added some white paisly designs to the hattter's vest with a gel pen for some details.

I've colored the White Rabbit before but this time I've gone with more traditional colors scheme - abandoning the Andy Warhol style. LOL I used Cool Grays for the clothing and Warm Grays for the rabbit to help distinguish the two different colors. I think I used Neutural Grays in the Mad Hatter.

Finally, here's a closeup of the background image, Country Sunset. I wanted a whimsical look so I used more bright colors and colored the road red and the rocks purple. LOL I thought it would fit the Wonderland theme a little better and liked how it came together. Thanks again Kimmie for asking be to be a guest! :D

Saffron

Another Update: Finally on the better side of things and thank goodness for modern day medicine! Not only do I feel better, they also rename "The Death Rattle" to so something less scary such as "crackling." Now if only the flu had been removed before I came home. :D Alas, one thing after another.

Update: I've come down with a sudden case of pneumonia and will return when feeling better. In the mean time, have a Happy New Year!

Rocky

It's getting chilly around here so I've selected more of a blue card to show off from my stash. This is Rocky, another in the Christmas Elves Collection from Make it Crafty! I have forgotten what paper I used (you can scroll down to the first elf card to see) but I've loved the color scheme it provided - blue, lt blue, brown, red and white. It's been a fun for these holiday collections!

I have all the standard stuff on this and I love the way the hat turned out - much better than the folds I tried in the last one. However, there is still one rather large one that I could have done with out - but I'm still trying to get the hang of where to place the folds. Don't get me wrong, not complaining... just sharing what I've learned. ;D The rest of the folds in the hat are perfect.

This is Hamlet from Simply B Stamps and I made this card for the 12 Day of Scary Christmas challenge ... which I'm a little slow on as a DT member! However, I still wanted to make a card to finish off the round. ;D As a participant in the challenge you have until December 30 to get your projects in and the theme is anything goes, anything melding Christmas and Halloween, that is.

For some reason, this image spoke to me and said... I'm the perfect Halloween/Christmas meld, pick me! So I did. LOL I colored his vest in red and white stripes to resemble candy canes, gave him a red cape, then used a lot of green embellishments on the card. The candle skull is the perfect amount of creepy-ness to make you look twice - that and the skull in the background too.

I used my Mom's flourish metal die and that fun packaging tape with the skulls on it to create the background. Then I had to use some print decorative paper because it's Hamlet after all - just wish I had hamlet print decorative paper - that would be awesome. I then carried some of the red off the image onto the card with the flowers and added a few pearls for a finishing touch. Hope you like it and be sure to come joing the challenge this week too. ;D

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We had a blast and I think my kids were sufficiently overwhelmed with emotions... at least, that's how bedtime is panning out. LOL So in between putting them into bed for the umpteenth time... I'll get this post schedule and share another Christmas card from my stash...

This little elf is Zippy from Make it Crafty and I chose to do him in more blues and browns with a few red accents... which turned out to be quite a lot! LOL I don't like how his hat turned out but it was good to practice adding the folds in the hat none the less. Next time I'll go with something a little more straight and from the sides to see how that looks.

So how many does that make now... four? That means I have two more elves and two little angels to show. However, tomorrow I have something different planned so stay tuned. :D

Merry Christmas!! Today is the big day and one that the kids have been waiting for! I should head to bed but wanted to get this schedule for some holiday inspiration. ;D I know, that's terrible, but I also want to finish my movie too. LOL

This is Socks... isn't he cute!! :D It's another one of the Make it Crafty elves that I colored long ago and finally got on a card. This fun set of elf cards are going to be saved and sent out next year. I even had a few holiday cards left over from this year so I'm almost set for the next season. ;D

I thought it was perfect for the monthly challenge at Make it Colourful which is to use colors that you rarely use and hate... for me, that would be to "rarely use colors that you hate."

I'd have to admit that even though these aren't my favorite colors - there is a certain apeal to them all together. ;D On this project, I used a digi so I took advantage of those benefits and made all the squares identical then printed it out. I think it makes for a different look from my last project where I made all the images in the square offset from each other. So what colors do you rarely use or hate? Happy Holidays! I went crazy the other night and assembled about a dozen quick cards using precolored images I had piled up on my desk. It was nice to get them done and since all of them are of a Christmas/Winter theme, I thought I'd start showing them off randomly throughout the week. Of course, I'll save some for after Christmas too... after all, the snow will stay in the northern hemisphere for a couple more months!

This card uses Floppy which is one of the Christmas Elves from Make it Crafty (available in rubber and digi). He was also the first one I colored out of the collection so I thought it was fitting to have him lead the way. ;D I also used some snowflake chippies from Make it Crafty and couldn't resist tossing in some gems too.

All of the elves were colored with the same color scheme which were taken from this winter paper, I think it's Wintertime by Echo Park. I loved the mixture of Christmas colors with winter colors - the splash of red really made it fun to use. Hope you enjoy it and Happy Holidays!

Rio & Frosty

It's the 7th Day of Christmas over at Simply B Stamps and today it's all about yummy treats and scary goodness. LOL The challenge is to use or create a Haunted Gingerbread House! Mine's not very scary but it definitely a Halloween gingerbread house decorated for the season... and who else better to decorate it than Teen Scene Rio! She's just putting on finishing touches on the snowman now. ;D

I decorated another page in my journal and the images I used are Rio & Frosty from Simply B Stamps and the Ginger Bread House from Make it Crafty in the background. I was going to go for an all Halloween feel but then I thought it would be a fun theme to have the Halloween house decorated for the winter holidays... since even scary houses get snow on them. ;D

The journal page was decorated with a doily that I cut out from a die (from Stampin' Up) and the "Baby it's cold outside" card was cut from the decorative paper - sorry I can't remember the name of it. However, everytime I read it, I get the song stuck in my head. ;D Such a fun song for the winter and I love the composition from the movie Elf with Zooey Deschanel.

I colored the gingerbread using dots of E55, E57 and E59, starting with the darkest going to the lightest - I thought it would give it texture and look more like fresh baked ginger bread. I might have added some E44 and E49 in there as well.

Gingerbread Dance

Here's the second tag that I made in the same style as the one yesterday... after all, two teachers, two tags - so why not make them identical? Saves time in the creative process. ;D However, for this project I used an image I already had colored which is the Gingerbread Dance from Make it Crafty.

All the other details are the same, however, I could mention that the diecut for the tag and lace doily are both from Stampin' Up. I think I'm going to enjoy the size of this tag and have already cut a dozen in kraft paper waiting for the next few projects. After all, we all have *plenty* of cards made! Welcome back to another Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge day and the last one of the year too! This time we want to challenge you to a tag... and 'tis the season! For this project I used Lilith from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and created a tag for a teacher who loves frogs - I thought it was a perfect combination. ;D

For the tag I threw together a few scraps of Christmas paper and used a lace die on some print paper for interest. Then a metal sentiment, rhinestone brad and tied it all together around the package - it was so much fun that I might just try it again!

I also decoupaged her head and part of her dress to give it more of a 3D effect. I wanted to jump in with a little "12 Days of Scary Christmas" action from Simply B Stamps and Day Seven's theme is coffins! I had found this wood coffin on clearance around Halloween time and knew I would be needing it for this very purpose. ;D The best thing about waiting so long to use it... ready?... the batteries in the annoying box are depleted. Yeah!

I first painted the box with black acrylic paint and I think I would have spent the extra time adding a finishing coating of some kind if I knew nothing would stick to it! But I was lucky enough to find some glue that worked and had to glue even the stickers down. So much for their sticky-ness. LOL

For my project I used Teen Scene Betty Sally from Simply B Stamps and recycled plastic from a packaging to get her to pop up when the coffin is open. Same thing with the ghosts in the background too. Sadly to say, the chocolate has all been eaten... I discovered the wrappers after coming back into my craft room with a very happy little girl too!

I've got another surprise for you today and one that I've been working on a little bit each week. I made this journal page using Welcome to a Sweet Christmas by Magnolia and a sneak peek of Saffron from Little Miss Muffet Stamps!

I realized after this project was finished that I never had a plan when I started. I first had Saffron colored and ready for a winter scene ... and lucky for me I found the Magnolia door! I don't know why I colored it black and white but I think it turned out great - the contrast between the two images is perfect.

Here's a close up of Saffron which is going to be a freebie over on the Little Miss Muffet Challenge blog coming up soon! You don't want to miss out on her so keep and eye out for that to happen. But I'll give you a hint... all the fun will start with the next LMMS Challenge. ;D

My project today is 100% Valentine! I retrieved my stash from the cupboard and used some specialty papers from K&Company including the love birds diecut. The clouds and "XOXO" were rub-ons and not all rub-ons are alike - these argued with me over which side of the transfer sheet it was going to hug... but I persuaded them in the end. LOL

Finally I used the Whimsy Ticket metal die for the sentiment ("It must be love!" also Kraftin' Kimmie) and assembled it all together with ribbon and hat pins. This would be my official Valentines card of the season and to be honest it makes me want to go out and buy a box of chocolates. :D Mmmmm.

I colored this cute little guy lime green as a direct inspiration from packing tape I found at the store! LOL Yes, those black strips in the back with green and white skulls is packing tape - how cool is that?!

The rest of the card was created with a modpodge of items on a white card backing. I was having so much fun adding embellishment that I didn't pay attention to the orientation of the card backing.... so what happened? It's completely upside down! LOL None the less, hope you enjoyed it. ;D

Girl with Flower and Girl on Bench

It's the December Krafty Peeks from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps starting today with images featured from the artist Cheryl Alger! This month's stamps by Cheryl come as a set of three images with five coordinating sentiments called Sugar and Spice and I've used two of them on my project today!

For my project today I created a journal page featuring two images from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, Girl with Flower and Girl on Bench. I paied these two cuties with the Rose Garden background stamp from Make it Crafty. Then I used a floral designer paper to set the scene for a beautiful flower garden.

The rest of the project was covered with a little ribbon, more decorative paper, flowers and gems. At the time it didn't feel like I was putting everything on there but I suppose I did. ;D Except for that kitchen sink, of course!

The sky in the background was created by holding the tip steady and lightly while drawing long lines across the white part. The BG0000 and BG000 were light enough that I didn't have to wory about the image and just drew right through it so I didn't have to start and stop in the middle where it would be the most visable. After drawing the lines in one direction and rotated the page and did it again in the other direction.

Summer Monkey

Welcome to another challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this time our theme is Buttons & Ribbon. I took this opportunity to create a boys card as I am plum out of those! I've seen meters on other blogs that count down how many holiday cards have been met and I should find one and use it for by cards... so this would be one down and only 24 more to go!! Not bad... that would be two a month.

For my card I used Summer Monkey from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. Then for the ribbon I used some burlap ribbon I had in the cupboard and lastly the buttons are a mixture of buttons and brads made out of corduroy; both are great for adding texture to the card. It's a Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge day! The challenge this week is to use embossing, be it dry or heat, we want to see it. I chose to go with dry embossing and used an embossing folder on one of the background papers. ;D The hostess this week is Diana and the stamp she is using on her card is Takara, so that will be the blog candy prize for the week!

Most of you know that each Friday (except for release weeks), we run a Frugal Friday Special! Usually there are six stamps on special 40-50% off and the special runs from Friday-Sunday only. Little Miss Muffin Rio

Are you counting yet? Today is day five out of six in the Simply Betty Stamps Teen Scene Kitchen Fun series!! Whohoo - that means tomorrow is release day with the finial preview. ;D However, before we get to that, today we are previewing Little Miss Muffin Rio! You can check out the other design team creations on the Simply Betty Blog too!

First off, if you've been looking closely you'll notice I didn't use my DCWV paper - gasp! I actually had this journal page made about a month ago and didn't have the idea of coordinating the projects until this week. ;D But I love showing this new color pallet and I hope you like it too.

For the journal page, I used Little Miss Muffin Rio from Simply Betty Stamps and Kitchen Isle from Make it Crafty's Kitchen Set to create this scene. I also took some more inspriation from Annika and went to town with the micro beads! LOL I think she does it better but I'll get the hang of it with a little more practice. (I found all the Martha Stewert colors on clearance for just over a $1.00 so I'll have plenty of opportunities!)

Because the colors are so dark and rich I didn't need to add a lot of embellishment, otherwise, I think it would have been too busy. I added antique white lace and a few cookie cutter shapes I had in my stash. Voila... finished. ;D Now it's time to enjoy those yummy muffins... I do hope they're chocolate-chocolate chip variety! Mmmmm.

It's another preview day for Simply Betty Stamps for the Teen Scene Kitchen Fun series and we're showing off Pan Slingin' London today! I went for a bright and cheery look and even had a chance to use some punchinello metallic ribbon. Make sure you check out the other design team creations on the Simply Betty Blog!

This is one adorable girl and as I was coloring her, two movies came to mind... Tangled and Bewitched! LOL So, of course, I *had* to give her blonde hair. :D However, the theme song for Bewitched won over so I colored the kitchen in black and white and found a black cat for Darrin to place next to Samantha. (And no, I didn't remember the names - I had to look it up on Wikipedia! LOL But I do remember watching the show a lot when I was a kid.)

The kitchen is a portion of a digital stamp from Make it Crafty, Kitchen Set, and the cat is from another Simply Betty Stamp, Everyday Emo London. Lastly, I got the idea for the background from Annika and Delphine projects who are both so inspiring! Thanks gals! :D Hope you like the card and come back again for two more days before the whole set of six are released on Firday - whohoo!

Welcome back to the next day of previews for Simply Betty Stamps! Today from the Teen Scene Kitchen Fun theme we're showing off Spaghetti Christian. You can also check out all the other wonderful creations from the design team on the Simply Betty Blog!

On my card I also used a few other stamps to add to the kitchen ambiance - from the top down there is Knife and Fork from Magnolia, Candelabra from Inkadinkado and Friendship Tickets from Whimsy with the accompanying metal die. I made a bunch of those at the same time so I'm sure you'll be seeing more later on. ;D And of course, the paper I used is more DCWV Nana's Kitchen - I was pleased to find a few non-pink sheets.

This guy was so fun and quick to color up and I can see him being used for several occasions. This one is intended more for a birthday card or personal invite to a romantic dinner. I went with more traditional chef colors on the white but gave him green tipped hair for a splash of color. Hope you like this and bon appétit!

Welcome to the second day of previews for Simply Betty Stamps. The Teen Scene Kitchen Fun series are the last release of the year and they are cute! Today we're showing off Cupcake Lola and make sure you visit the Simply Betty Blog for all the other fabulous creations using this gal!

The stamps I used are Cupcake Lola by Simply Betty Stamps, of course, and two images from Make it Crafty - Butterfly Rose Swing and the gift boxes from Festive Elements collection. Instead of kitchen or Christmas themed, I've gone for a birthday theme - and with these elements I was hoping it looked like a backyard party. ;D

The paper is the same from yesterday, DCWV Nana's Kitchen, and I think I'll use it for all the releases this week if I can get away with it. ;D I love the list pastel colors and the brads I have are working really well with it. Get ready for some new Teen Scene releases from Simply Betty Stamps and they're all going to be previewed this week! These images are adorable and all centered around the kitchen - however, don't let that fool your creativity as they can be used for many other projects too! First up today for preview is Baking Betty...

I had procrastinated on this project to the very last day because I was waiting for an order to arrive in the mail... and this time my procrastination worked. ;D The stamps I was waiting for were the kitchen themed background elements from Magnolia... Kitchen and Sugar Bag. The paper I used is from DCWV, Nana's Kitchen, which has a fun color scheme that I followed.

Putting it all together went by quickly and I got to use some long forgotten embellishments such as the white lace and large metal brads. It's nice when that happens and somehow validates all the hording I do! He he he. Then I get the urge to go shopping more when I end up using the last of something... like the white resin flowers. Yep... time to go shopping!! LOL

The fun twist is how Betty's hair is colored and is an idea I saw on Pinterest this week. I don't have a Pinterest account yet so I can't find it now... but don't tell my Mom that as she's been begging for me to get one. Oi... yet another thing I need to do this week. I enjoy how this journal page came together and I hope you do too. I'm excited to bring you my first project as a Kraftin' Kimmie Guest and today is the start of a new challenge themed "Thank You/Thankful/Gratitude." I chose to use Stella Strawberry from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and giver her a more chocolate covered strawberry feel. Mmmm, I'm grateful for those delectable delights! LOL

My card was made with no intentional plan and came together with elements that I haven't used in a while. I was excited the crochet flowers looked like they finally matched as I've had those for years! With Valentines coming up I hope to use the rest of them too and get on with the next package... which, by the way, are a gorgeous white and can be customized with any Copic marker!! The rest is pretty standard run of the mill supplies, however, the plastic leaves were from a beaded garland I found at the hobby store.

The hostess for this week's challenge is Kerry and the prize for the random participant is always the stamp featured on the hostess' project. This week Kerry has used one of the images from the new Snips and Snails set, so the winner will receive that image and a sentiment.

There is also a HUGE sale at the site right now... almost everything is 25-75% but only until Monday!! Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps was also featured in the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine and is having a giveaway on the blog so be sure to check it out.

Confirmand Melinda

The challenge this go around over at Make it Colorful is to "Color White" and even though I'm in the midst of coloring Christmas cards, I wanted to color something other than snow. So the image I've selected is Confirmand Melinda from Whiff of Joy and I've kept the card one layered and simple.

The border idea was inspiration taken from Deconstructing Jen as she always has the best one layer cards! To recreate the idea, I used a black pen to draw the border. Then I've placed a chippies in the upper corner and a Whiff of Joy miscellaneous sentiment in the lower corner. I also did a little bit of shading on the inside border to give it more interest.

For the white challenge, I used three different tones to create the white. The dress uses E40, E41 and E42 to create an antique look; the wings were colored with T3, T2 and T0 for a soft pure look; and finally the background has W2, W1, W0 and W00 to help "ground" it to the card. It was a fun to concentrate on the coloring this time than the card making. :D Make sure you come back later today as I'll have another project up!

Happy Thanksgiving!! Today I plan on relaxing and coloring and in general taking a day off from my problems. LOL Today is also the start of a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet Challenges and our theme is "Gratitude/Thanks."

For my project I used Audrey from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and I created a fun card with a Hidden Forest Seat from Make it Crafty in the background. I used the same color scheme that Arabella used on her project from last week as I've loved her pastel look. ;D I then used the same color scheme for the rest of the project.

The card was put together with a simple layout with papers from my scraps and a few things I had within reach. I also used a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps, Friendship Ticket Sentiments, and also used the coordinating die to cut it out - nice and simple. ;D

The challenge this week at Make it Colourful is "Lantern/Candlelight" and one that I've been looking forward to for a while. I had already colored one image but forgot to include something MiC (see Carol Singing) and so that gave me another chance to try it again. LOL

Rummaging through my rubber stamps I was able to find another lantern for the challenge. The image I used is Bookmark Fairy by Hannah Lynn and is one I've been waiting to color once again. This time I wanted to go with a dramatic look so I've combined some of my past projects with the lamp and this is what I ended up with.

This is an amazing card and but for reasons which you may not expect too! Unexpectedly, from start to finish, this card took ten times longer to make than any project I've done in a long while! Oi! The main reason is the way I started to color it which threw off my whole style - I was using different paper to color on at took full advantage of it. He he he

The way I colored was different in that I colored the whole image with Neutral tone grays and setting in my shadows as dark as N8. I didn't think about scanning it until after I had already started recoloring some areas. This is also a great way to focus on the shadows.

The paper I used is Neenah and even though I was able to layer my colors, there were several areas that were over saturated, became sticky, and wouldn't accept anymore layering. However, it was a fun exercise to work over the gray tones even if it took me all day to color it. The background was done the same was as the last (see Carol Singing) by flicking in the direction of the light, then stars were added with acrylic paint. Here's the final colored image before I cropped it.

Here's the second day of previews for Little Miss Muffet Stamps and today the DT girls are showing off Hope and Audrey - so make sure you check them out HERE! To add a little humor I'm showing off Hope and if you look closely, you'll see Gilgo in there too. :D

The background image is A Time to Relax from Make it Crafty which was a perfect fit for this gal. Then the page was created with pastel color to match and a few large sticker flowers I had that were begging to be used! Do you ever have those kinds of embellishment? I think mine take turns getting their attention.... except those chippies - they seem to make it on practically everything! LOL

If I had a penny in my pocket I would start marketing this idea... but, I don't which means it's your lucky day. He he he. So what is the idea? It's this new revolutionary diet plan and it even works faster than having a baby!! It's amazing and the results are instant!! Just give this a try and see how fast it works...

Reindeer Boys

It's the final day of previews for the Sketchy Zombies release at Simply Betty Stamps and today is a combined image of Levi and Caleb, Reindeer Boys! Betty has posted all the details on the release and specials on the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge blog so make sure you head on over and check out the deets.

The image I used is Reindeer Boys and as you *might* have noticed already ... they aren't zombies!! He he he. All the areas that were zombie related were wiped away then I used a fine tipped Copic black liner pen and drew normal lines back in where it was needed.

It was easy enough that I think I might do it again to another stamp. ;D But I have a few other project in my queue to get to first. So stay tuned as this blog is going to be booming with ideas from now until the end of the year! Yikes... I better to back to my desk. Gilgo and Echo

Ya gotta love Thursdays!! And especially today because you get three projects to view! Yea! Make sure you scroll down for the SBS Preview post too. ;D

Today I'm showing off two new images I created for Little Miss Muffet Stamps... Gilgo and Echo! This first one is Echo the snake and I used the Tulip Garden from Make it Crafty plus a few gears and dragonfly chippies.

Since I was out of boy cards I thought Echo would be perfect for the task and even tried to incorporate flowers into the mix! So did it work, a successful boy card? My nephews will at least enjoy it. ;D

The other project I have here uses Gilgo the fish and I made a Christmas tag as you can never have too many of those. The paper is a punch out remnant from Martha Stewart paper and was the perfect size - no since throwing that stuff out, I say. ;D

Fluffy Reindeer Tail Levi

Your waiting has paid off and today I'm showing off the other half of my last journal page for the Sketchy Zombie release! Make sure you check out all the other inspiration from the DT over at the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge blog. Today we're showing off Fluffy Reindeer Tail Levi and his cute little worm crawling living in his head. LOL

The background is from Make it Crafty and come from two combination packages... Winter Scene Elements and the sign is from Winter Elements. On a side note... doesn't that sign have a technical term for it? You know... the "where is everything" kind of sign? I'm sure it does but I haven't a clue! Santa is looking out for these buddies as it's customized just for them... Brains, Hearts and Livers! LOL (An idea from the SBS DT. :D)

Here's the whole page with the backing taped together. I love how the colors turned out and have the SBS DT to thank for their Zombie inspiration - they'll have me converted over in no time! He he he. The snowflakes are stickers and left over from last year but I like how they add the final touch to this project. Rudolph Head Caleb

We're on a roll - day six of eight of the Sketchy Zombies from Simply Betty Stamps! Today is all about Rudolph Head Caleb on the other half of the Christmas-Halloween melded journal page. ;D

The background is the other half of Mistletoe Archway with an added tree from the Winter Objects, both from Make it Crafty. There is even a skull stamp on the side I used from Inkadinkado! Here's the full project with both sides taped together. It would have been fun to use the same background for all the pages and then I could flip to mix and match! Well... that's why they say hindsight is 20/20!

Here's a close up of Caleb with is blue hair (which I like better than the pink hair in the winter scene). In the background you can see the tree which was super easy to color - just dot YG61, YG63 and YG67 for the green and the shadow on the snow was done with B91 and C1. (Or it could have been C3.)

I also scanned this before cutting it apart - sometimes it helps me to look at it from a different perspective plus it's also fun to look at it without all the embellishments. Hope you like it and be sure to come back tomorrow for the second half of yesterday's project! :D

Carol Signing

Here's a fun card I did for the Make it Colourful challenge where the theme is to have a single light source ... aka a "Candlelight or Lantern." This is one of the images I got last year and promised myself I'd use it this year! The image is Carol Signing from Lili of the Valley and I should have included a Make it Crafty chippie or something so it would count. LOL But alas... here it is anyway ...

The background was created by flicking and blending in N0, N2, N3 and BG91, BG93 and BG95. All the strokes were towards the light and in the end I like how it turne out - looks like it really is shining. Then after the image was complete, I used a white gel pen and white acrlic paint to add the snow and highlights.

The card is pretty simple - just some DP and ribbon but the image was already busy enough to keep it's own focus. This was a fun experiment and next time I think I'll try to make the sky and shadows darker - or perhaps I'll try a candle? We'll see. I'm also entering this into the Lili of the Valley Challenge #120 (Creature Comforts). Hope you like this fun image and a happy early holidays! :D

Peppermint Brooke

Whohoo - it's the third day of previews for the Sketchy Zombies and I'm excited to show you the other half of one of my journal pages! LOL I had them all printed out before I realized what the order of previews was but at that point didn't want to change it. He he he... So today we're showing off Pepermint Brooke from Simply Betty Stamps!

Now you get to finally see the whole project with both half pages together! The image was colored as a whole when as I assembled it I cut each of the layers in half. For the picture I taped it on the back so it would be aligned. ;D

On this side of the project, I used ribbon, charms and more chippies (Mix 'n Match Centres) from Make it Crafty. The background image is the same - Winter Park from Make it Crafty and this side you can see the bench. Here's a close up of Peppermint Brooke. It would be funny if she was sucking on a segmented arm or bone ... but then she wouldn't be as cute. LOL

To get a better look at the lightning bolt, I scanned the image in before I cut and covered some of it. To read about how it was done then click HERE for the Falalala Lexi post. As you can see with the larger image I had problems with blending this time around and better paper would have solved that. Unfortunatly, I layered down the darks too fast and wasn't able to smooth them out. None the less, it still turned out better than I expected.

It's is the second day of Sketchy Zombie previews from Simply Betty Stamps and today we're showing off Holly Jolly Ginger! I've done another half journal page and the background I used this time from Make it Crafty is Mistletoe Archway and with some more Mix 'n Match Centres chippies. Again I went with the melding of Halloween and Christmas themes but I'm not sure how this one turned out.

The small bottle of potion is an accessory stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie. If you're curious, the background was colored with YG91, 92, 93, 95, N2 and N3. Then the moon was colored with E50, E51 and E53. This was a fun zombie to color and she can even be made into a cute Christmas sweetie too. Of course, the other half of the project will be shown in a couple of days. ;D

Falalala Lexi

I'm so excited to say that I'm the new DT member for Simply Betty Stamps! Whohoo! So I guess you could say my guest term was super short! he he he. To kick start the celebration right, I'm joining in on the Sketchy Zombie releases and today we're showcasing Falalala Lexi!

Of course with a Christmas release I had to combine it with some winter scenes so I used Winter Park from Make it Crafty as the background; as well as a few snowflake chippies too (Mix 'n Match Centres). ;D Finally, I used non traditional colors and even a few left over Halloween embellishments to finish up the project.

As you may have noticed I created a journal page, but you're only seeing half of it! The other half will wait a few more days but I wanted to show the lightning bolt in detail. As part of a super-super difficult challenge this month, Make it Colourful is challenging you color storms with lightning bolts. Since I wanted the Zombie Christmas theme to be dark in nature I thought, sure, why not! LOL

I first colored the lightning bolt with a gel pen so I could see where it was. Then I started building up the colors around using the Neutral grays - keeping it darker around the outside and lighter the closer I got to a white line. I also added some B91, B93 and B95 once I had the gray tones laid down. Finally I went back over the white lines with the gel pen again to brighten them up.

Birthday Blog Hops are always fun way to celebrate. :D You should have arrived here from LEA but if you want to start at the beginning then that would be with SUZI.

I made this card to send to Betty and wanted a cheerful yet creepy feel so I used lots of black with a touch of sunny yellow. The image I used is Lola Addams from Simply Betty Stamps, of course, and the moon was a Martha Stewart label that I colored in with N0, N2, N3 and N4.

Most of the card is paper from My Mind's Eye but I did add a skull charm in the lower left corner and binoculars which is a rub-on. I attempted to add faux stitching around the outside but neither the black nor the white showed up very well... so look closely for those details. Te he

It's another challenge day at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and our theme this fortnight is "Simplicity with a charm." Make sure you check out the DT projects over on the challenge site! Sometimes it's hard not to put all the embellishments on so this really was a challenge for me. However, in the end, I had to add a couple of embellishments. He he he

However, to distract your eyes from the embellishments and help give it a more simple look, I did use a plain decorative paper! That count's right?! The charm I used is an owl and was one I was going to save for a reading card, however, I figured the "night owl" was also a good fit.

For my project I used Agent Popcorn from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and Comfy Chair from Make it Crafty. The pairing makes for a good movie night. ;D

For this project I used the new Chloe image and set her sitting down on a chippie border from Make it Crafty. I had fun drawing up this image and as long as you don't tell anyone I'll share that I did it during class one night!! 12 Days of Halloween

Here are my final projects for the Simply Betty Stamps 12 Days of Halloween and it's a good thing that a blog post doesn't count toward the project! LOL I'll be coming back in to add more pictures, descriptions and details. Until then... enjoy!

... okey, dokey, I'm back! I've put in a vampire movie, grabbed the kids' Halloween candy and I'm ready to sit back and relax. ;D So let's get to it...

Sixth day of Halloween
My true love gave to me...
Six goblins gobblings!

The Simply Betty characters I used are Raven & Rio, Max & Miller and Louie & Lola and they were colored green for good measure. The combination I used for the skin was YG91, Y28 and YG93 (maybe YG95).

I had originally planned to color all six Teen Scenes gobbling and place them on a journal page but time ran away from me. It was a good thing that these three brought along their pets to help gobble down that barbecue to count as six! The background is made up of images from Make it Crafty including Aussie BBQ and Urban Street elements; I also used Fine Swirls chippies on two of the cards.

Eighth day of Halloween

Eight monsters shrieking!

Everyone knows that kids are monsters, right? So in this project I used Jude from Simply Betty Stamps jammin' on his electrical guitar. The other seven monsters are in the Spooky House which is from Make it Crafty, peeking out the windows.

This scene actually reminds me Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends so I had to include Master Blooregard Q. Kazoo in the top window, also known as Bloo. (Love that cartoon!) The other monsters (imaginary friends) are just eyes peeking out of the darkest side of the house. The house was colored the same way Jane did as I loved how hers turned out.

Eleventh day of Halloween

Eleven casks a-leaning!

I didn't exactly have any casks on hand so I improvided and used a potion bottle plus ten glasses of leathal doses! Remember my plan to use all my Simply Betty Stamps to color with? Well, I was getting down to my last four to choose from (so I'll have to get more now!) and none really worked so I used one of my first stamps instead, Lola.

I'm sure you've noticed that huge eye by now, which is from Inkadinkadoo, and something I've been wanting to incorporate into a project all week now. For inspiration I looked up eyeballs in Google... and did you know some people are getting them tattoed?! Nope, didn't know that either! Lastly I used a left over tombstone from Epitaphs, also from Inkadinkadoo, and the potion and drinks are accessories from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

This completes the 12 Days of Halloween challenges. If you have a favorite of the 12, then I'd love to hear about it! :D I'll lave you with a parting shot of Jude who will provide the music for the credits. Happy Halloween!!

12 Days of Halloween

Get ready for some more 12 Days of Halloween projects as I've got three more for you today! I worked on day five, ten and twelve which means I only have three more days left to finish for the ultimate prize. Whoohoo! For each of my projects I'm still using the same paper - Matilda from Cosmo Cricket.

On the fifth day of Halloween
My true love gave to me...
Five scary spooks!

Incorporating spooks in this project was an easy task - along with the main image, Freddie Kruger Boy from Simply Betty Stamps; I used a tombstone in Epitaphs, spiderweb and skull, all from Inkadinkado, and the fifth element is the scared kitty charm.

I've enjoyed using these tombstones today, and as far as sentiments go, they strike a chord in my funny bone. :D This one in particular says "The grass isn't greener on the 'under' side." As I was coloring Freddie, it was intriguing to discover little bits of details - for example, it took me a while to figure out hes belt was a personal knife sharpener complete with side pockets for more knives - well, at least that's how I colored it. He he!

Ten ghouls a-groaning

This one was a little more challenging to figure out how to fit ten ghouls onto a card but after some creative thinking and stretching of definitions, here's how I counted them up... five are under the tombstones, both bats, the girl and yes, the crow AND spider!

On this card I used Miss Betty Burton Chibi from Simply Betty Stamp and I colored a few feature with the Atou Spica glitter pen. (Don't we all wish glitter showed up better in the photograpsh!) I also used more tombstones (Epitaphs from Inkadinkado). These ones say "It was a bad day," "Holy smokes it's hot down here," "Poor rover rolled over," "Does anyone have a shovel," and my favorite "dying to be here."

On the twelfth day of Halloween

Twelve bats a-flying

One bonus about these challenges is that I'm trying to use every Simply Betty Stamp that I have so I can officially declare them inked up! As a result, I've had to get a little creative with a few of my projects as I try to incorporate non-traditional Halloween images... this one included. This is Lilly Pie and to fit the them I have a baker's dozen of bats that have burst out of that fresh hot pie!

This image was really fun to color and her hair really was a puzzle at first - however, I loved how it turned out to look like a ponytail - gosh I wish my hair was that thick! In this project, and the one before, the "moons" are really blank Halloween labels from Martha Stewert that I colored using T0, T1 and T3.

It's the start of another challenge at Make it Colourful and this time the theme is "Coloring Texture!" The basic idea is to stay away from all the smooth blending and rough if up. My main textures can be found in the brick and a little in the sidewalk and wall. However, others on the team say there is a lot more than that. ;D

For my project I used Drew and Angelica from Simply Betty Stamps and created a scene for them to go trick-or-treating in using Urban Objects and Urban Street elements from Make it Crafty. The chippies I used were Fine Swirls and a medallion from Filigree Jewels with sticker added in the center which was stolen from my daughter's project today! LOL

Here's a closeup of the colored image that I scanned in before doing anything with it. I can never get the colors to match up in my photos so the scans are sometimes a great alternative. I had colored the image as normal then went back in with some Warm grays to add more depth - I really liked how it turned out when compared to an earlier version. Lastly the white was added on Drew with acrylic paint and a brush to help her costume get a shiny look.

Here's a card I made using the cute Abigail Apple from Kraftin' Kimmy Stamps - I just discovered their "fruit" line and absolutely love these gals! Of course I could color her any which way but I wanted to choose an apple to inspire me so I picked a Golden Delicious. ;D

The sketch I used is for the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #101 which I'd like to enter this card into. The clock face is a die from Tim Holz and I've shamlesly used the sample that was provided with the packaging! LOL

The challenge this round at Little Miss Muffet Stamps is to incorporate clouds into you project. That's always a fun one and you can color your own or include clouds in your embellishments. Also, come on over to the challenge blog and make sure you see all the inspiration - there is a variety of ideas!! :D

For my project I used Megan from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and combined her with Fern Log from Make it Crafty. I kept the card simple as I really liked how the colors on the images came out so I really wanted to draw all the attention into the center. So I minimized it to some chippes, rhinestone gems and two dragonfly brads to fill an empty spot up on the corner.

12 Days of Halloween

I'm excited to show four more projects for the 12 Days of Halloween at Simply Betty Stamps. The ultimate prize, if you enter all 12 days, is a chance at a DT spot for 2012! After mulling it over... I decided to go for it! :D So here are four days, plus the one from yesterday, leaves me seven more days to work on - I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On the third day of Halloween

Three black cats

I needed a couple cards for school this week so that's what I focused my efforts on. Each of them uses paper that I had stashed from last year which is Matilda from Cosmo Cricket. Where are the three cats? Two of the cats are from a die cut so I put one in the background and one on top of a jack-o-lantern; the third cat, of course, is Lynx.

The image is Lynx & London from Simply Betty Stamps and I used Filigree Jewels chippies from Make it Crafty. I had colored Lynx yesterday as a black cat so today I wanted to give him some color and went for a Siamese look in tribute to my college feline friend. I'm submitting this card into the Third Day of Halloween challenge.

On the fourth day of Halloween

Four skeletons

On this next card I have a cork sheet for the center and cut it out with my diecuts. Then I stamped four skulls on it with images from Inkadinkado, however, you can only see three of them in the end - so it was a good thing that the image had one which makes the fourth.

The spiderwebs are also from Inkadinkado and instead of using chippies in the corners I stamped two of them in black. The main image is Mad Scientist Christian from Simply Betty Stamps and is actually a school themed image! I'm submitting this one into the Fourth Day of Halloween challenge.

On the seventh day of Halloween

Seven pumpkins glowing

This one turned out to be my favorite out of the set and actually started out being my least favorite, go figure. The challenge is seven pumpkins and I'm sure if you count the half pumpkin images in the decorative paper then I have more than enough. LOL However, there are six mostly complete ones that are visable and the felt pumpkin embellishment makes the seventh - as I count them.

I used Ali & Snuggles from Simply Betty Stamps and corner chippes in Love Heart Swirls from Make it Crafty with gems on them. I also dug out my punchinella ribbon (can't remember how to spell it) and added a strip to break up the busy decorative paper. Finially I used my marker to draw a dashed line on the white and assembled it all together. I'm submitting this one into the Seventh Day of Halloween challenge.

On the ninth day of Halloween

Nine ghosts a-booing

This last card has plenty of ghosts to count but I couldn't resist drawing one more in the image as well. I used a ghost on the paper as a guide and thought it would be fun to have it coming out of the pile of leaves. Since the leaves were already haunted at this point, I also added a few eyes burried in the pile - oh, what a surprise Oscar will be getting! LOL

The main image is Oscar Pile of Leaves from Simply Betty Stamps and I used chippies from Fancy Ribbon Slider and Filigree Borders from Make it Crafty (covered with silver acrylic paint). I had fun coloring this image and ended up coloring from edge to edge! This is the last one and will be entered into the Ninth Day of Halloween challenge. Hope you liked them and got some ideas to inspire you with. ;D

I'm ready for the 12 Days of Halloween over at Simply Betty Stamps! Time had gotten away from me so I'm glad that I didn't miss in on the action - love the fact that I have this whole week to make up for my missed time. ;D

On the first day of Halloween

An owl in a rotten oak tree!

The images that I used for this project are: Lynx from Simply Betty Stamps and for the background I used Old Oak Tree and Cave from Make it Crafty (as well as a chippie from Swirly Corners). The cat turned out to be fun and I think tells an interesting story. ;D

This was small enough that I put in my ATC Journal and kept the layout extremely simple - Other than adding a chippie and two gems, that was it and pretty much stands on it's own. I loved how it turned out, however, next time I need to figure out a better transition between the sky and the cave - maybe put some details or grass at the top of the rocks?

The background was inspired by the Spooky Night Sky challenge over at Make it Crafty and since it was my "brilliant" idea, I thought I'd come up with another example but this one not so scary. I kept the upper corner with the moon bright then went as dark as possible in the other corners to hopefully give the feel of a spooky dark forest. The eyes were added for fun and rather completes the project, I think.

Bobo Petal Sprite

I finally got the colored image onto a journal page for the Make it Colourful challenge - coloring snow! To get close up images and details of the scene... check out a previous post HERE. The images I used are all from Make it Crafty: Bobo Petal Sprite, Festive Elements, Winter Objects and Winter Scene Elements, plus some Snowflake Stars chippies too.

I wanted to keep a feel for winter and snow so I used light colors in the paper and embellishments. The pink was chosen for the ribbon to give more of a focus to Bobo Petal Sprite and pull out those pinks of her petal hair.

The chippes were covered with acrylic dauber paints in a pearl - which looks like a mix between silver and white. Then a quick sentiment was found and that sums ups all the embellishments. Hope you like it and once you get your snow project finished you can upload it into the Make it Crafty Gallery!

Agent Cupcake Aiming

Welcome to the second day of previews for Little Miss Muffet Stamps and today I'm showing off the newest Agent in the Operation TREEHOUSE series... Agent Popcorn Aiming! Be sure to head on over to the store to see the Agent Popcorn in her cute pose too. ;D

Phew... this project took the longest time to finish as I had one mental block after another. I had colored Agent Popcorn a couple days ago then printed out a background to work on. However, today I made the mistake of changing out the kids summer clothes for winter ones before crafting and now I wish I had done it the other way around! LOL Now as I "rest" and enter in my details, I'm terribly distracted by a cute little movie called The Gruffalo. It's darling and I'll have to get the book from the library tomorrow.

Anyway, back to my project. He he he. This is Agent Popcorn taking aim against the boys next door. But don't let those jumbo popcorn pellets fool you as I'm sure they're filled with something gooey... maybe even something smelly too.

The background is Pebblestone Path from Make it Crafty. I had merged the images and printed them out together then realized I wanted to use dimensional for her so I colored the background ignoring the character. This gave me the opportunity to work on the grass and sky without worrying about lines. Afterward I colored the character black in case you could see between the layers. Once the project was finished I used dimensional foam and "popped" that girl right on. Enjoy!

Mitten & Button

It's new release week at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and there are four adorable images going out! Today I'm using a couple Animal Friends, Mitten and Button, to create a warm holiday scene next to the Hearth & Home fireplace from Make it Crafty.

These two images were inspired by a few animal friends of my own - our little Ginger was a recent addition to our home but there was already an image of that name so I named her after my childhood pet dog, Mitten. We couldn't have someone getting a puppy for Christmas without a kitten in the mix too so I drew Button after another past companion.

The Hearth & Home fireplace is from Make it Crafty and gave me another opportunity to color a fire. I wanted to focus on the inside of the fire pit as I wasn't sure how to color it so this time I looked up images in Google and found a good image to reference. It's not exact but still turned out nicely.

I colored each of the images large so creating the journal page would be quick and easy. I covered the back with decorative paper, wrapped a large ribbon around and positioned my images. Then added some MiC chippies, couple of pearls and lastly a few snowflake buttons - finished! :D

Here's a project that I created for the Whimsy Magazine online that was published back in August and if you head on over there you can see the newest release published just last week! The August issue has all the supplies extra supplies listed for this project but the main stamps are Mystic and Birthday Letter Seals from Whimsy Stamps and the Tropical Waterfall from Make it Crafty.

This was actually the first project that I made in my second journal and it wasn't too long ago that I finished my last page... so I guess to answer that question it takes me two months to fill a large journal. ;D

Most unicorns I've seen have been colored white so I wanted to give a try at a black one - but to keep the details showing I colored the tail a fiery orange. To balance out the project I also elements of the waterfall in darker colors too. Oh... and the page behind it is ripped out of a Winnie the Pooh book that I have on hand just for this occasion. ;D Hope you enjoyed the project as much as I enjoyed making it.

Kreepy Kitty

Here's another project for the Make it Colourful monthly challenge this month ... to create a Spooky Night Sky! Head on over there to check out my tutorial and hopefully get your creative juices flowing. ;D For this page, I used Kreepy Kitty from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

I saved all the coloring tips for the tutorial at Make it Colourful so I'll just ramble on about the embellishments and journal page that I created. The best part is the Mini Dragonfly chippies from Make it Crafty - I colored them with Copic markers to give them a greenish look.

The mean looking pumpkin is actually a felt sticker from Martha Stewart and thought it would give a fun whimsical look to counter the creepy feel. Here's a close up of the colored image and be sure to head on over to the Make it Colourful site to join in on the challenge.... I super-duper-double-dog-dare you!!

Welcome to another great challenge at Make it Colourful where our theme this time around is "Coloring Snow!" However, first thing is first, the winner of my Blog Candy. Thank you everyone who participated, left comments and hopped with us. ;D

My project is another coloring sample for our challenge at Make it Colourful and our challenge was to color snow. Don't worry - I plan to put this on a journal page and show it off next week. For the snow I used the Neutral tones for the majority of it but around lamp post I used Y23 and Y21 for a glow. However, mixed up the glow in the lamp post and should have reversed the dark and light parts - but that's no biggie.

The trees were a little tricky but I started with the darkest color and tried to leave plenty of uncolored portions for the snow. I also went in with a white Gel pen afterwards for touchups and snowflakes too.

The main character is Bobo Petal Sprite from Make it Crafty and I used several of the new winter elements that were just released... Festive Elements, Winter Objects and Winter Scene Elements. Even though I was coloring a winter scene I still wanted a lot of color and I liked how it turned out. However, after looking at the other DT sample I think I'm going to add some more color and maybe some blue in the snow as well. ;D

Paprika

It's another challenge day at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this round our theme is "Girlie Girl!" That's an easy one for most of us so we want to see lots of pink, flowers, pearls and/or ribbon. ;D For my project I used Paprika and gave her a pink raincoat and rain hat. ;D

I had fun coloring a background for this image (details of that below) and once it was finished didn't feel that all the grays clouds and blue skies fit the theme very well, so I added more pink through the papers, flowers and pearls. Yep, that looks better!

The rain puddle was a direct inspiration from Delphine's project using the same image. I loved how she had colored the water on top of the sidewalk so I gave that a try following her instructions. I like how it turned out but thought maybe next time I should leave more lighter areas - one things is for sure, she found the perfect colors and I love them. Thanks Delphine for the inspiration!

I'm excited to announce that I've been asked to guest for Flutter By Wednesday #175 today and I have a mini journal page to show off. The theme is to use your scraps! That should be an easy one for all of us... and remember to use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your project too.

For this mini journal page I used Phunky Pharies "Cyd" from Sweet Pea Stamps which counted towards my "butterfly, fairy or angel" portion. I colored her in browns and blacks to match the neutral tones of the paper. It's hard to tell in the picture but I gave her bright green eyes hoping for a pop of color. Unfortunately it's a tad too small to qualify as a "pop". :D

The paper is actually two smaller pieces (so don't look to hard) and the lace are small scraps I had left on the table. It's hard to come by black lace in my area so I kept a hold of even the smallest pieces - including the 3" section that is glued horizontally on the page. Hope you enjoyed this inspriation and thanks Danni for the invite! :D

Aussie Outback Shack

It's October and the perfect time for some spooky creations. This one is the first one in response to the new monthly Make it Colourful Challenge "Spooky Night Sky" and you can find some chatter about it in the MiC Message Board.

To start my project, I first studied the inspirational pictures in the challenge post and noticed a few similarities... for the most part, they were on an angle and monochromatic in a certain color. A couple of them had eerie things in the clouds or moon, spiderwebs, fog, etc. So with these things in mind I merged some images together and tilted the scene 15 degrees to the left.

After printing it out I looked online and found a Mean Skull that I sketched into the moon with a pencil. I wasn't sure if it was going to turn out so started playing around in coloring the moon I was surprised how it turned out. I was so excited that I started coloring the rest of the image using the Warm grays. With the darkest tones I added my shadows and worked my way to the lighter tones. The clouds were done the same way except I started with the lightest and went darker.

After the whole image was colored in the monochromatic tones I started adding in YG91 and YG93 from the sides inwards. Next time I think I'll go darker on the outer edges. Next I added the spiderweb using a gel pen. For this I wish I had more branches at the top so I colored some in, however, better positioning of the tree would have been better.

Lastly I thought it could use some eerie mist but I wish I could have applied it differently - I was looking for more of a chalky soft look so I'll work on that technique next time. Finally I placed the finished image on a journal page and added fun elements such as dripping blood, tombstones and other such things. One downfall to coloring so many samples for the Sheer Clothing challenge is that I have to make as many projects. ;D So this is my last image placed on a mini journal page... Ben in the Rain by Whiff of Joy. In the corner I had to use a chippie from the Butterfly Swirls from Make it Crafty, of course. :D

For the challenge, the transparent parts that I created was the entire coat plus the umbrella top. I first penciled in the jeans, shirt, arms, chin and hair, plus I added a wire frame for the umbrella so the transparency would show up better. I practically erased it to nothing and let my memory help me with the lines then I colored in those area trying to make them a little lighter than the exposed sides. Finally, I used a little yellow and lightly colored in the coat and umbrella keeping most of the colors on the edges where possible.
